Op-Eds

The Party of 'Yes'

The Republican Party is the Party of 'Yes'

As November approaches, the Democratic Party’s go-to talking point is calling the Republican Party the "Party of No". But on every major issue facing America over the short and long term, only the Republican Party has stepped forward with substantive solutions.

Will Obama cathc Bieber fever?

Is Obama immune from catching Bieber fever? One has to wonder...

As the infectious plague that is “Bieber fever” sweeps the nation, one has to wonder if President Barack Obama is immune from catching it. Although our president has denied having Justin Bieber on his iPod, the two have some stunning attributes in common, something that may surprise our commander-in-chief. A meteoric rise to superstardom, a master of oration, adoration by millions of kids worldwide- am I talking about Bieber, or am I talking about Obama?

It could be worse

President Obama said the economy, "could be worse," but we don't see how it could be.

“Things could be worse.”

That is the best this beaten-down president can say. It reminds me of the scene from that cinema classic Dumb and Dumber. The main characters, Harry and Lloyd, beaten down from their personal (but self made) struggles go on a rant, “We got no food, we got no jobs, our PETS' HEADS ARE FALLING OFF!”

Obama: A pupil of Socrates

Like Socrates, Obama has a distrust of the abilities of the average man

One of Plato's most famous works is The Trial of Socrates, which outlines Socrates' discourse with his Athenian jurors as he contests the two charges against him: corrupting the youth and impiety. The charges were notoriously vague and served as a mere vessel for a much deeper question – the legitimacy of democracy.

America is not too big to fail

America could become the next Greece
The same fiscal hubris that pushed Greece's economy past the breaking point has become Obama's economic policy: spend without regard to future consequences. Spend regardless of revenue. Spend, and give no thought to the effect on the private sector. Just spend.

Political 'heavyweights,' governing lightweights

When it comes to governing, Democrats are not the real deal

Well it is a slow news week here in D.C., if Tony Perkis was the mayor, he would definitely “cancel lunch due to lack of hustle.” While we have some extra time, some of us at the College Republican National Committee figured we could analyze the current dismal political atmosphere in D.C. with a little help from some notable quotables from one of our favorite childhood movies: Heavyweights.

Don't put your debt on our tab

Who else is tired of irresponsible government spending?

Even with the American economy showing slight signs of growth, it's hard to escape the feeling that our country is stuck in a recession.

The harsh reality is that today's fiscal recklessness and unwillingness to address our national debts will be tomorrow's burden.
