2010 Plan

The foundation of all College Republican National Committee political operations is the Field Program. College Republican field representatives are in charge of recruiting, registering, training, and mobilizing College Republicans on college campuses to volunteer and vote in the upcoming election. The pillars of the program are: Recruit, Train, and Mobilize.

Recruit

College Republican field reps lead the recruitment of new Republican students, targeted voter registration drives, campus canvassing, and organizing College Republican meetings on each campus. In 2010, we will deploy 23 field representatives to do just that, and their presence in targeted areas will be crucial for victory. In addition, we will also deploy 2 regional field directors to supplement local volunteer and field representative activities during key points during the election cycle.

Train

As the nation’s largest grassroots political organization, training our members is paramount. Training programs cover every subject from youth activism to campus projects to fundraising to recruitment. All our field representatives go through an extensive training in mid-June to fully populate our goals, establish state-specific plans for the fall, and elevate the skill level of our statewide leadership teams. They will apply this training when they deploy in August.

Mobilize

During the field program, we will deploy thousands of College Republican volunteers from areas with fewer contested races to swing regions around the country. They will make a significant impact on the margins in closely contested congressional and gubernatorial races providing hundreds of thousands of man-hours making phone calls, walking neighborhoods, and performing the general ground work of campaigns. College Republican field representatives and field directors will coordinate four RampUP events in the fall targeted around the field program. These RampUP events will be one-day nationwide pushes to get out the vote for Republican candidates. Although the RampUP events are critically important, the pinnacle of the field program is the final 96 hours before the election. During this time, field representatives will mobilize thousands of volunteers to get out the vote in the remaining days before the election to help ensure Republican victory.

Web Activism

The College Republican National Committee will engage in an aggressive and finely tuned effort to reach out to youth voters online and engage them in messages tailored to the concerns of the Millennial generation. Voter registration forms, issue education, and links to center-right and allied coalitions are just a click away via www.CollegeRepublicans.org.

We have launched a text-messaging program to allow new members to register as a College Republican using their phones. College Republicans can text 30364 with CRNC, and text their name, email, and zip code to be added to our email list to receive important news and updates about grassroot efforts of the College Republicans. This is not only an innovative tool for recruiting new members, but it will allow us to spread important information to our membership on a moment’s notice.

The Time is Now

These programs consist of extensive messaging efforts, a sophisticated grassroots operation, and innovative online technologies that will allow us to motivate our entire membership and keep it accountable—all while reaching the largest audience of youth voters ever.

The College Republican National Committee has grown tremendously in recent history, but this year calls for an unprecedented effort on our party’s part to secure the youth vote. To fail in this task would risk the outcome of not only several gubernatorial races, but a number of contested congressional races. While the short-term consequences would be severe, the prospect of losing an entire generation to the Democrat Party should be greatly more troubling for supporters of our party.
